Michel Liès succeeds Jean Lemierre as Chairman of the EFR
Michel M. Liès, Chairman of Zurich Insurance Group, has taken over the role of Chairman of the European Financial Services Round Table (EFR) on 10 November 2023 for a two-year term.
Mr. Liès has been a member of the EFR since 2018 and succeeds Jean Lemierre, Chairman of BNP Paribas, who served as EFR Chairman from 2019 to 2023.
Mr. Lemierre made significant contributions to advancing the EFR's objectives and promoting open and competitive European financial markets during his tenure.
The EFR and its members primarily focus on medium to long-term strategic issues that affect member companies and the European financial markets. The EFR actively contributes to policy debates on important areas such as sustainable finance and climate change agenda, the digital agenda, financing the twin transition, growth, and long-term investment.
Members of the EFR regularly engage with senior European and international policymakers, supervisors, regulators, and politicians. The EFR is recognized as an influential stakeholder by European and national public authorities and institutions.
The EFR consists of 22 members who are Chair and/or CEO of major international insurers and banks with headquarters in Europe.
