A subgroup of the EFR Cyber Group prepared a White Paper on Why Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) is a Strategic Priority Now, with an Executive Summary for C- and Boardlevel. Quantum computing presents a strategic risk to the organisation’s long-term data confidentiality, operational resilience, and regulatory compliance. Though this risk is not immediate, its impact will be significant when it materialises, particularly in the financial sector. Failure to act now exposes organisations to legal, operational, and reputational risks, with increasing remediation costs.
Immediate Steps for the Organisation:
- Launch a PQC Readiness Program.
- Establish a Central Cryptographic Inventory.
- Formalise Governance & Accountability.
- Remediate Vulnerable Protocols.
- Ensure Adoption of PQC Protocols in Ongoing and New Initiatives.
