Michel Pébereau
Chairman of the Board
BNP Paribas

Member of the Academy of Moral and Political Sciences.

Graduated from the Ecole Polytechnique and the Ecole Nationale d'Administration, Honorary Inspector General of Finances, Member of the Academy of Moral and Political Sciences, Michel Pébereau has spent fifteen years in the Ministry of Economy and Finances, in the General Inspectorate of Finances and in the Direction of the Treasury. He left the administration to join the Crédit Commercial de France, where he led the privatisation of the two banks: the CCF and the Banque Nationale de Paris. In this capacity, he has been Chairman and CEO from 1993 until 2000.

Following the successful merger between BNP and Paribas, he became Chairman and CEO of BNP Paribas, from 2000 until 2003.

In 2001, he has been elected 'Financier of the year' by the Association Nationale des Docteurs es Sciences Economiques and 'Strategist of the year' by the economic daily newspaper La Tribune. Chairman of BNP Paribas since 2003, Michel Pébereau has been Chairman of the European Banking Federation from 2004 to 2008. He is also a Member of the International Consultative Committee of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, of the International Advisory Panel of Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and of the International Business Leaders’ Advisory Council for the Mayor of Shanghai (IBLAC). He is the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Aspen France, of the Board of Management of the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris and of the Institut de l’Entreprise, and of the European Financial Services Round Table (EFR).
