EFR Statement in support of a strong, ambitious response to climate change
Today the European Financial Services Round Table (EFR) has issued the attached statement in support of a strong, ambitious response to Climate Change.

This statement was sent to European Governments, the European Commission and other public officials, who will participate in the 21st Conference of the Parties (COP21), which will take place in Paris 30 November-11 December 2015.

The EFR welcomes the momentum generated on Climate Change by the COP21and is fully engaged in this important topic.

  • Therefore, the EFR commits, inter alia, to putting more focus on understanding, managing and reducing carbon asset risks and to supporting our customers in their transition to a low carbon future.

  • The EFR will work with policy-makers and regulators to incentivise and leverage further private climate finance, to ensure consistent voluntary standards for disclosure by companies and to develop methods for assessing forward-looking exposure to climate-related risks.

  • Finally, the EFR calls on governments to secure a strong and ambitious agreement in Paris, to provide long-term regulatory stability for low-carbon investments and to actively develop, implement and review national adaptation and mitigation strate-gies.

The Members of EFR, Chairmen and Chief Executive Officers of international banks or insurers with headquarters in Europe, encourage the participants of the Conference of the Parties to engage in a constructive dialogue with the view to achieving a consensus on this crucial topic.
